Obituary for Edward J. Sullivan

Edward J. Sullivan, of Poughkeepsie, NY, died on October 26, 2017 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was 62 years old.
Born on March 18, 1955 in the Bronx, NY, son of Jane (McCarthy) Sullivan of Wappinger Falls, NY and the late Jeremiah Sullivan. He graduated from Brewster High School in 1973.
Edward worked for Kect Construction in Patterson, NY as a laborer. Following Kect Construction he worked for Adler Construction in Thornwood, NY. Edward took great pride in his work. This came naturally as he worked through the years alongside his good friends, Ed Garrity and Donald Flood.
Mr. Sullivan enjoyed fishing and gardening. He loved watching NASCAR and working outside. Edward enjoyed cooking as well.
Besides his mother Jane, Edward is survived by his daughter Shawna Sullivan of Selbyville, DE, his sons, Joseph M. Sullivan of Poughkeepsie, NY and Edward F. Sullivan of Shawnee, OK, his brother, Jeremiah (Mary) Sullivan of Edgewater, MD, his three sisters, Jane (Frank) Merlino of Wappingers Falls, NY, Theresa (Patrick) O’Neill of Wappingers Falls, NY and Elizabeth (Robb) Pike of Selkirk, NY, four grandchildren, Steven, Jazmin, Michael and Preston. Also several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service and wake will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 from 2 to 6pm at the Putnam Lake VFW Post 9257, 4 Fairfield Dr., Putnam Lake. A private cremation was held earlier.
